Cars Com Reviews

i have a dealership on hillside ave, jamaica ny , when i started cars.com we got few leads after that we got leads from mostly out of state and if its from ny noone responds, and even if they respond they have questions like i want a test drive. Cars.com makes fun of car dealerships by sending false leads. I had a customer from cars.com who came and filled the vehicle with his family and forced for a test drive, when i asked whats the next step he said i just came for a test drive. Cars.com needs to stop mocking dealerships with false leads. I dont want to even give them one star.

Doesn’t Recommend Negative Outlook Approves of CEO I have been working at Cars.com full-time (More than 3 years) Pros Good work/life balance is still possible. Company culture is still good overall. Great experience for field sales. Great interactions with senior managers, but they need to make bold changes. Cons Micro-management, ineffective communication from the corporate office to the field, corporate is becoming more disconnected from client needs and challenges. Recent changes to the compensation plan for sales is ineffective. Advice to Management Tap into the wealth of knowledge that sales consultants have in the field.Put people in place that have real-world experience with client base.Good representatives are leaving because they are being micromanaged, poor strategy changes are making it harder to do business, and the comp plan changes are a major issue for long-term reps that have performed well. There are some middle managers in sales that appear to be an asset to the company, but most are ineffective and get in the way of progress and communicating concerns from the field to senior managers. Consider eliminating or making serious changes to this position. Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on WhatsApp Share via Email Copy Link Link Copied! Recommends Positive Outlook Approves of CEO I worked at Cars.com full-time (More than 3 years) Pros Overall good company, product and go to market strategy. Positive culture was the biggest pro, as I met some great friends. Cons Need to provide a more competitive salary, not in align with all the booming tech companies. Specifically, the base is very low. Advice to Management Need to have better management across the board. I found management to be very gossip oriented, not equipped to motivate or lead a team. It's a shame because the leaders of this company are the best in the business. Additionally, please treat inside sales people with more respect as they are the heart of the business in penetrating small markets to go to the field. Recommends Positive Outlook Approves of CEO I worked at Cars.com full-time (More than a year) Pros The culture is second to none. I've been in a few sales gigs and this was by far and away my favorite. My manager was easy to work with, the teammates were helpful, and the goals and pressures were all in line with my expectations. The onboarding process is the smoothest I've ever had. Truly a great company to work for in your 20s or early 30s. Cons Limited earning potential in some markets. I know I had very limited potential ahead of me and that is ultimately why I moved on. Advice to Management Maybe incremental pay raises throughout the year for reps who are hitting goals. Dont change the pay plan so drastically every year. Dealer Reviews enhance vehicle listings with verified customer feedback about a store’s sales and service departments, representing a free, powerful differentiator for a dealership’s inventory. And because Dealer Reviews are on Cars.com, dealerships can manage their reputation, inventory and advertising all in one place, influencing buying decisions right where consumers are shopping for their next vehicle.

I don't see a big future for this company, with facebook and other high-traffic sites, I don't belive cars.com stands a chance.

Working for a decently large company, and had to purchase some fleet vehicles. Searched through some various sites, and called some local dealerships. I got a better deal through cars.com. Highly suggest them for all of your car purchasing needs.

I had my vehicle posted on cars.com as a private seller for a week. Had a couple of scam responses, and was unable to upload photos even after emailing them for help. I chose not to pay $50 to sell my car, so that was probably part of the issue. Long story short, I got smart and put it on offerup, sold my car in less than 24hours.
